Beyoncé: "Motherhood has changed everything for me"

Beyoncé Knowles has been opening up about her feelings on motherhood in a recent interview.

The ‘Bootylicious’ star gave birth to her first child – daughter Blue Ivy Carter – in January 2012.

On her role as a mother Beyoncé told Very magazine: “Motherhood has changed everything for me. I'm a lot braver and I'm more secure. I have more purpose.”

She continued: “I feel like you see things a bit differently after you give birth and my biggest job is to protect her.”

When it comes to maternal wisdom Beyoncé already has a key piece of guidance she wants to pass on to her daughter as she informed the British publication: “The biggest advice I will give my daughter is to always value herself. Everything else falls into place after that.”

The Texan superstar also revealed that one of her favourite motherly tasks is changing Blue Ivy’s nappies:

“I perform on stage for a few hours of my day, but the rest of the time I'm changing diapers. I enjoy it.”

It seems that Beyoncé is keen to keep a fair balance between her career and being a mum as she explained:

“I'm trying to make sure that I don't work so hard that I don't enjoy the blessings that are around me every day.”

Knowles went on to disclose that she hopes to expand her and Jay Z’s family in the future:

“I'd definitely like to have more children and I look forward to that.”
