Biffy Clyro's new record debuts at No.1 on UK albums chart

Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro have landed at No.1 on the official UK albums chart this afternoon (January 30) with their brand new record, 'Opposites'.

The lads have an incredible 30,000 copies lead over their nearest competitor, which is the 'Motion Picture Cast Recording of Les Misérables' at No.2, and the Official Charts Company explains that they are "seemingly uncatchable".

If they remain at the top until Sunday (February 3) when the positions are confirmed this will be Biffy Clyro's highest charting album to date.

Justin Bieber's long-awaited 'Believe Acoustic' made an appearance in today's midweeks at No.3, Fleetwood Mac's 'Rumours' album has re-entered the chart at No.4, and Alicia Keys' latest offering, 'Girl On Fire', has climbed 28 places to sit at No.10.

Elsewhere in the Top 40, One Direction's 'Up All Night' has risen 4 spots to No.30, fun.'s 'Some Nights' has dropped 13 places to No.22, and Funeral For A Friend have a new entry at 16 with 'Conduit'.
