It was so much fun. No overdubbing vocals, just recording takes until we got the one we wanted” - Rag'n'Bone ManOFFICIAL PRESS RELEASENEWS PROVIDED BY Big Hassle Media Rag’n’Bone Man has partnered with Vevo for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the music video for his new single, “All You Ever Wanted” in the latest installment of Vevo Footnotes. Rag’n’Bone Man has worked with Vevo previously on a series of Vevo LIFT videos. WATCH “‘ALL YOU EVER WANTED’ | VEVO FOOTNOTES” Rag’n’Bone Man describes the message behind the nostalgic feeling of the song, working with producer Mike Elizondo and co-producers Rory and Ben Jackson-Cook, as well as filming the video with director Will Hooper, who also comments on the inspiration behind the model village setting. FOOTNOTES OUTLINE: (0:16) The song is about the towns you grow up in and how they change over the years. Sometimes memories from your childhood are all that’s left as society changes. (0:25) Rag'n'Bone Man: “Pubs for the gang that play good music, little venues where you learn to cut your teeth as a musician are what I love. It feels like it’s all slowly being sanitized.” (0:35) Narration: The new album is produced by Mike Elizondo and co-produced by Rory (Rag’n’Bone Man) and Ben Jackson-Cook. It was recorded in a studio in Nashville over six days. 0:41) Rag'n'Bone Man: “We wanted the listener to feel like they were in the room with us. It was so much fun. No overdubbing vocals, just recording takes until we got the one we wanted.” (0:51) Narration: Directed by Will Hooper, the video focuses on a model village built by Jennifer Kidd and her amazing team of model makers. (0:57) The idea for the video came from model train enthusiasts who create these idyllic scenes that, in reality, don’t truly exist. (1:07) Will Hooper: “I thought about the possibility of another world existing in a layer beneath the charm and whimsy of a model village, something dark and real.” (1:22) Narration: In order to merge both realities, two sets were run simultaneously with Will jumping between the two to ensure he had eyes on everything. (1:28) Will Hooper: “It was important that we address the vein of social commentary present in the song lyrics within the visual, but for the tone to be fun and playful - nothing crazy earnest or sincere.” (1:42) Narration: Throughout the video, Rag'n'Bone Man is seen as a pseudo narrator, his lyrics telling the story of a town beginning to falter and crack. (1:58) The original concept for the video was to have Rory’s face on the front of a train in the style of ‘Thomas The Tank Engine,’ but the label decided to proceed with the model village instead (probably for the best). (2:17) Rag'n'Bone Man: “I loved how they merged the two worlds. I couldn’t see it working at first but those guys know what they’re doing. I really wanted to make a video that makes you think, something that hasn’t been done to death.” (2:38) Narration: The “Frosted Citizens” cereal eaten by the Town Mayor character explores the notion of overpopulation - as he fills his bowl, figurines representing everyday people begin to rain down upon the streets. (2:45) Will Hooper: “It's a little nod to the time when you used to get toys in cereal boxes. Something that once opened usually found it’s way pretty quickly to a landfill site - reducing people down to something as trivial, disposable and populous as a breakfast cereal.” (3:04) Narration: As the story reaches its finale, a miniature Rag'n'Bone Man looks out over his model town and reflects on how much has changed.
