"Accepting herself and finding human connections are an unfinished, endlessly examined struggle for Dodie, a 23-year-old English songwriter with a lustrous voice she's careful to underplay. "If I'm Being Honest" - a tune with hints of Billy Joel's "Piano Man" and Dido's "Thank You" - analyzes the course of a flirtation, from giddy discovery to uncertain hope to realism" -NEW YORK TIMES
dodie has unveiled the video for "If I'm Being Honest" today, the latest track from the Human EP, due for release on January 18th. Starring Ari Fitz, the model and actress who has built an online following of her own by exploring gender, beauty and identity, and directed by Dom Fera, the video for "If I'm Being Honest" was shot in LA over the summer, and sees a young girl encounter a crashed spaceship, landed by her future self, with the two of them working together to rebuild it. Dodie explains that "this music video reflects on the theme of accepting the parts of yourself you're afraid of, and learning to forgive and love yourself through anything".
"If I'm Being Honest", receiving attention from the likes of BBC Radio 1's Annie Mac and Phil Taggart, follows the EP's title track, "Human" (feat. Tom Walker) which released last month to a rapturous reception, with the song already exceeding 4 million Spotify plays and nearly 2 million views for the video on YouTube.
The 23 year old singer songwriter from Epping is arguably the most successful DIY artist of recent times, having built herself a considerable fanbase since she began uploading music from her bedroom aged just 16. dodie has now had 350 million streams across YouTube, Spotify and Apple Music.
The Human EP follows two self-released EPs, 2016's Intertwined and last year's You. Both EPs reached the top 40 of the UK official album charts, with You peaking at number six, despite receiving little promotion. "I make whatever I want, I'm making music I want to hear now," says dodie of the EP. "I get overwhelmed by a feeling, and it's easy to hold onto and write around that. My songs are like an exploration of a certain feeling."

In the fall of 2018, dodie completed a sold out North American tour, selling out venues such as Brooklyn Steel in New York and 2 shows at the Fonda in Los Angeles.
