Los Angeles by way of Detroit singer, songwriter, producer and actress Eryn Allen Kane has released her new EP a tree planted by water, her first release since 2016.

For the project, the elite and immensely talented vocalist recruited poet Aja Monet for the spoken word interludes tying together the EP. The juxtaposition of the two artists make for some of the most compelling work and story telling of her career.

"A tree planted by water" is a series of short musical stories. A time capsule of life events pieced together with live instrumentation, storytelling, narration and raw vocals. I wanted to get back to the roots of soul music by using simple melodies to paint complex narratives. Her work explores stories of love, trauma, resilience, social injustice, and hope. A few of those themes were particularly apparent in the first video from the album, "fragile", a deeply moving visual directed by Kane and choreographed by Emmy award winning artist Tessandra Chavez. Kane feels a sense of duty in telling the stories of human pain and triumph all of which comes through with stunning clarity on a tree planted by water.
