"The 23-year-old's voice cuts through as poignant as ever." - HYPEBEAST

Philly-based creative visionary, singer-songwriter, producer, and expert storyteller, Orion Sun has released her latest and third single "Lightning", off her upcoming debut album Hold Space For Me coming on Mom + Pop. A deeply intimate and atmospheric ballad that deals with feelings of disarray, despair, and perseverance following the sudden loss of stability caused by homelessness and the all too relatable loss of meaningful relationships. Orion begins the jazz-influenced and melodic track with deeply personal lyrics "lightning struck the house we used to live in," recalling a pivotal and turbulent time in her life. The 23- year-old is left to pick up the pieces and make sense of a harsh reality evoking confusion and loss of naivety.

Accompanying today's release is a lo-fi, live take visual for the single, which premiered on HYPEBEAST and is directed by Godfred Sedano with creative co-direction from Orion Sun. The poignant visual features Orion glammed up and wearing a camel-colored suit while standing on a makeshift stage flanked by dusty red curtains and singing to an empty audience of mismatched chairs. With a hazy glow from bare lightbulbs and juxtaposed crackling visual projections, the video evokes a sense of isolation and perseverance that reflects Orion's overarching theme and the stream of consciousness found throughout her music. Orion's delicate genre-less style pulls from influences such as J Dilla, Nancy Wilson, and Jodeci and has resulted in being named an artist to watch by NPR.

Speaking on "Lighting," Orion has shared: "This song is the beginning of the journey which talks about losing my childhood home and being thrust into homelessness while also losing relationships and trying not to lose myself as well in the process. It was a very confusing and scary time for me. It established fear but resilience for what was to come."

The news arrives ahead of her album debut. It follows previously released singles "Ne Me Quitte Pas (Don't Leave Me)", which landed on over 12 New Music Friday playlists including the cover and #1 featured track on Spotify's global Pollen playlist, and "Coffee for Dinner", which also landed on coveted playlists on all DSP's upon release including Spotify's Viral 50 at #40 and Amazon Music's The New Black playlist. Both singles have collectively amassed over 5.6M streams worldwide. Orion will embark on a 13 date headlining North American tour, beginning at Boston's Great Scott and winding through Toronto, Chicago, Seattle, and more before wrapping in Los Angeles. Tickets for the Hold Space For Me Tour are available for purchase at www.orionsun.space/tour. Stay tuned for more news coming soon and follow Orion Sun on socials.
