Grammy Award-winning songwriter Starrah, born Brittany Hazzard, has dropped her debut artist project The Longest Interlude via Platoon. The 13-track opus describes an emotional and vulnerable story that young lovers can relate to and serves as Starrah’s deeply personal diary. The Longest Interlude features production from Nile Rodgers, Skrillex, June Nawakii, Giorgio Tuinfort, Patrick Greenaway, Velous, Nana Rogues, James Blake, Bas, Suburban Plaza, Boi1da, Vinylz, Jason Evigan, and Wondagurl. It was recorded by Brad Bustamante and Starrah and mixed by Alex Tumay and Rich Costey. On the album, Starrah says: “I put everything into this album because it’s my diary, the raw soundtrack to my life. The Longest Interlude describes a love story from the highs in the beginning, to the lows and hardships that most can relate to so I am super excited to share this with you all. This is a moment in time and a period of transition and possibilities.” The album arrives alongside a visual for “Miss This,” a flirty take on lovers playfully challenging each other in a relationship.

Starrah's notoriety came by writing other artist's hits across all genres. From Maroon 5's "Girls Like You" (their biggest song to date), Rihanna's "Needed Me" (longest-running Billboard song by a female artist), Camilla Cabello's breakout hit "Havana," and Megan Thee Stallion’s "Savage'' feat. Beyoncé, which won Best Rap Song on Sunday at the Grammy Awards! With over 14 billion streams to date, Starrah was one of the first-ever Black LGBTQ+ women to grace the cover of Billboard's New Hitmakers issue and the first woman in nearly two decades to win ASCAP's "Songwriter of the Year'' award. She’s garnered press praise from New York Times, Pitchfork, Variety, Essence, Billboard, and more. Last week she interviewed for Apple Music’s Behind the Boards and Nile Rodgers Deep Hidden Meaning, plus created a special Shazam Playlist for Women’s Day.
