NOVEMBER 18, 2021 — Art pop powerhouse Poppy has just revealed PoppySphere, a new app for iOS and Android developed in partnership with HIFI Labs, that presents a virtual 8-bit universe for fans to explore, with dynamic rooms and secrets to uncover as they navigate a realm of iconoclastic creation. Users can customize their own avatar and text chat as they plumb the depths of Poppy’s virtual space, playing games and making connections with fellow fans everywhere. “I am overjoyed to be launching my very own Metaverse!” says Poppy. “A fully customizable virtual space to hang out and talk with the PoppySphere one on one. The possibilities are endless so, make yourself at home.”

PoppySphere comes in the wake of the singer’s accomplished new album Flux, which was the focus of the first-ever Listening Party held on Roblox. The GRAMMY nominee played and chatted alongside the platform’s millions of users as her music became part of the soundscape for a full weekend. Now, PoppySphere players can immerse themselves in Poppy’s one-of-a-kind aesthetic anytime. Furthermore, fans will have a chance to actively shape the PoppySphere, working alongside Poppy to build and customize this new interactive world. Fans can submit music for different rooms, games for the arcade, featured wall art to provide decor, or even design whole rooms. Featured content might even earn creators exclusive gifts. “We're really interested in the true direct-to-fan connection,” says HIFI Labs CEO Joe Barham. “We love working with artists who view the cutting edge as an opportunity and our focus is on helping artists build their own platforms to create the best possible relationship with fans.”

The launch of Poppysphere adds yet another tentpole to the most accomplished year of Poppy’s career to date, kicking off with a stunning GRAMMY performance in March (celebrating her nomination for Best Metal Performance, the first solo female artist ever nominated in the category), her global livestream event The Last Disagreement in April, the May release of her cover of Jack Off Jill’s “Fear of Dying,” multiple appearances on WWE NXT (which culminated with the surprise drop of a five song EP, EAT - NXT SOUNDTRACK), and the September release of her acclaimed new full length Flux. The album marks another ambitious leap for the ever-evolving musician, putting a renewed focus on stream-lined songwriting that foregrounds her indelible vocal melodies atop a kaleidoscopic mosaic of overdriven guitars, brought into sharp focus by acclaimed producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen (M83, Deafheaven, Jimmy Eat World).

PoppySphere is available for download on iOS and Android devices today.

“lands somewhere between the sonic extremes of her previous work, marrying heavy distortion with sticky pop hooks.” - NEW YORK TIMES

“nine tight, hook-focused songs that favor front-to-back consistency over constant mayhem — drawing on stoner-metal (‘Lessen the Damage’), pop-punk (‘Mean’), new wave (‘Hysteria’) and shoegaze-y dream-pop (‘As Strange As It Seems’) in satisfying bursts.” - SPIN
