Elina releases her new single 'Mirage'

Elina has that natural ability to connect. Each song seems to open up a conversation, a message direct from her heart that detonates on impact.

Opening her account only last year, the Swedish star has scored over 27 million streams on her first three releases, and with the release of her debut EP incoming, it seems that Elina is ready to spread her wings, to truly reach her potential.

Her new single ‘Mirage’ is a brooding, powerful piece of pop music, crystalline in its electronics but lovelorn in its lyric. Matching the digital to the human, Elina fuses this with her own experiences of relationships, and her struggle to move beyond them, and re-establish her own identity.

A song of empowerment, she says that ‘Mirage’ is “about the aftermath of being left behind. About the struggles to get rid of the past and the memories of someone you’ve lost.”

Elina continues: “It takes place in the very centre of destructiveness before you’re able to move on. In the calm after the storm you start to regret that you didn’t do things differently in a relationship when you had the chance, you start to remember the good times and you become obsessed by making things right again. Even if it’s all a waste of time.”

A soaring, intoxicating achievement, ‘Mirage’ is sonically grand yet somehow also extremely intimate, and it further underlines Elina’s status as one of the boldest new voices in Scandinavian pop music.

Elina is the Ivor Novello-nominated singer-songwriter Elina Stridh from Sweden.

She’s solidified a strong reputation in the industry in recent years, most notably for having co-written the multi-platinum 2016 single ‘Sexual’ for NEIKED, and having penned songs for Zara Larsson and Astrid S, among others.

As testament to the strength of her songwriting, Elina has been nominated for several awards in her native Sweden, including winning ‘Song of the Year’ at the 2017 Swedish Publishing Awards and being nominated at the prestigious Denniz Pop Awards in 2015.

Following her songwriting success, Elina launched her artist career in April 2018, with the release of her cinematic debut single ‘Wild Enough’, which was championed by music blogs worldwide, and has quickly reached over 17 million streams on Spotify alone. Follow up singles, ‘Here With Me' and 'Champion' were also released in 2018 to similar acclaim.

Elina’s songwriting comes from the heart, and she isn’t afraid to write about things that aren’t perfect or pretty in topic, with her music addressing self-belief in one’s own ability and the fear of being seen as inadequate.

Her solo project aims to break from today’s strict genre formats, and instead focuses on an approach of stripped down instrumentation coupled with timeless songwriting. Her fourth single ‘Mirage’ is released in February 2019, ahead of her debut EP later in the year.
