Blur return to the place which inspired 'Park Life'

Damon Albarn has paid tribute to Hyde Park at Blur's headline comeback show.

The frontman revealed to the 55,000 crowd that the 350-acre park was the inspiration for his band's hit single 'Parklife'.

"I had the idea for this song in this park," he said. "I used to live near Kensington Church Street, and I used to watch pigeons and people and all that stuff."

The band were then joined by actor Phil Daniels for a rendition of the track.

Earlier, Albarn recalled the park's significance in the 2003 anti-war rallies, which he participated in. "Two million people marched into this park in 2003 and tried to stop something and you know what happened," he said. "I just want to remind myself about it."
