BMG and Fremantle, one of the largest international creators, producers and distributors of TV programming, have announced the extension of their global partnership.

The extended deal includes a global music publishing and administration agreement for Fremantle’s catalogue, as well as an agreement with BMG’s production music business which, in addition, has been expanded to a now global partnership.

BMG ensured the seamless integration of Fremantle’s catalogue of more than 15,000 owned and co-published music copyrights, including music featured in some of Fremantle’s biggest shows such as American Gods, The Price Is Right, Family Feud, The Apprentice, Take Me Out, Grand Designs, Neighbours, and Wentworth.

Fremantle was able to maximise its music publishing revenue by 12 per cent since 2017. Additionally, Fremantle will continue to benefit from BMG’s royalty portal, myBMG, which offers accounting transparency, the central management and tracking of income from multiple international territories, and a faster royalty pay-through.

Steve Euesden, Music Publishing Manager at Fremantle Media, comments: “We have grown our music catalogue significantly over the past three years and BMG have been a proactive partner, helping to maximise our music publishing revenue. Our agreement with BMG Production Music has been a valuable resource to our production and creative teams, and this renewed and now global partnership will create further opportunities to work together across Fremantle’s network of international production territories.”

Alistair Norbury, BMG, President Repertoire & Marketing UK, says: “We are excited to deepen our relationship with creative powerhouse Fremantle. We anticipate immense benefit from the extension of the deal and are confident that our partnership can become even more successful under the renewed agreements.”

Dan Pounder, EVP & Commercial Director at BMG Production Music, says: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with our sister company and extend the range and depth of the relationship. We are working to enhance our creative services and exploitation of the joint venture library increasing the revenue opportunities for Fremantle and enhancing how we can service the deal including the better use of technology and smart marketing.”

BMG is the exclusive music partner to Fremantle’s long-running Australian soap Neighbours under which BMG provides repertoire from both its publishing and recordings rosters within the show. In addition, BMG also administers Fremantle’s German subsidiary UFA's music publishing catalogue as part of a separate agreement.

BMG represents over three million songs and recordings including many of the most renowned and successful catalogues in popular music history and compositions by David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Iggy Pop, The Strokes, and John Legend.
