BMG is saddened to learn that the Mute Records artist, Anita Lane, has passed away aged 62.

Born in Melbourne, Australia, Lane was a long-time friend and collaborator of Nick Cave, Mick Harvey and Barry Adamson - having co-written songs with Cave for The Birthday Party - and joined The Bad Seeds for a brief period in 1984, when she contributed lyrics to the title track from their debut album From Her To Eternity.

In 1993 Lane released her debut solo album on Mute Records, Dirty Pearl, which had been recorded over the previous decade and included her work with Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Einstürzende Neubauten and The Birthday Party. Her second studio album, Sex O’Clock was produced by Mick Harvey and released on Mute in September 2001.

Anita was a true original and BMG’s thoughts are with her family, friends and her extended Mute Family.
