Alternative rock band Bloc Party have announced their sixth studio album, Alpha Games, set to be released on April 29, 2022, via Infectious/BMG. It’s the band’s first studio album since 2016’s Hymns.

The British band shared a taster of Alpha Games with their brand new single ‘Traps’. Produced by Nick Launay & Adam Greenspan (Nick Cave, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, IDLES), ‘Traps’ sees the band returning to the post-punk sound of their earliest work.

Speaking of the new single, Bloc Party singer, songwriter, and guitarist Kele Okereke said: “From the moment we wrote ‘Traps’, we knew it had to be the first thing people heard from this album; playing it in soundchecks on our last tour before it was finished and hearing how it sounded in those big rooms and outdoors.”

Their last album, critically acclaimed Hymns, was released shortly after Bloc Party signed a recordings agreement with BMG. The band have sold over three million albums worldwide.

To celebrate the release of Alpha Games, Bloc Party will be touring the UK and Europe in May and June 2022, including a homecoming show at London’s Alexandra Palace.
