Global smash hit, ‘Astronaut In the Ocean’, has been announced by Apple Music as the World’s Most Shazamed Song of 2021 with 11.7 million Shazams for the song this year alone. Produced and co-written by BMG publishing client Tyron Hapi and performed by Australian rapper Masked Wolf, the song is beating out the likes of The Weeknd (with 8.5 million for 'Save Your Tears'), Ed Sheeran (with and 8.1 million Shazams for 'Bad Habits), Adele, Drake, Kanye West, and Olivia Rodrigo.

Tyron Hapi signed an exclusive global publishing deal with BMG in early 2021.

Heath Johns, BMG Managing Director Australia & New Zealand, said: “We signed Tyron to a global development deal when he was only 20 years old with the belief that he had genuine international potential. A couple of years later he has written and produced the Most Shazamed Song in the World, sitting above mega-hits by international superstars including Adele, Kanye West, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, and Drake. This is proof that hard work pays off and we are so proud of him."

Originally released in June 2019, the track started to gain attention on social media by being used in a number of TikTok videos in late 2020. Following its re-release on January 6, 2021, the song achieved international chart success, peaking at number four on the Australian ARIA Charts, number six on the US Billboard Hot 100. Additionally, it hit the Top 10 Apple Music Global charts in 32 countries and Top 10 Spotify viral charts in over 20 countries. In September 2021, the song was added to the APRA Billion Streams list for its achievement.

At the 2021 ARIA Music Awards, the song received five nominations including Song of the Year, Best Hip Hop Release, and Breakthrough Artist - Release.
