Marking a new record for the company’s recordings business, BMG artists have landed three of the Top 5 positions in the Official German Albums Charts.

German ska-punk band Sondaschule went straight to number two with Unbesiegbar. Due to the unexpected death of guitarist Daniel Junker in June 2021 the release of the album was postponed. Unbesiegbar now marks the band’s best chart position to date. Sondaschule have released a mini-series to accompany the album.

Slash ft. Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators follow at number four with their new album 4. Slash’s first release through BMG is also the first product of the company’s partnership with the newly launched Gibson Records, the label formed by the legendary guitar brand.

With The Dream at number five, indie trio alt-J scored their best chart entry in Germany so far. BMG is responsible for releasing the album throughout the world excluding North America and Australia/New Zealand. Celebrated by the international press with rave reviews, the UK's Rolling Stone called the album a "masterpiece" while Süddeutsche Zeitung described it as "as fascinating as breathless".

Meanwhile, BMG publishing clients Aside, Montez, and Esther Graf contributed to Katja Krasavice’s Number One album PussyPower.

Maximilian Kolb, BMG EVP Repertoire & Marketing Continental Europe, said, “Three albums in the Top 5 mark a new record for BMG in Germany. The fact that some of our most accomplished writers and producers also contributed to this week’s Number One shows that we can compete across recordings and music publishing in all genres. It's a great success for the whole team that shows how well the domestic and international departments work together.”
