Singer-songwriter Alison Moyet was awarded one of the top honors in the UK, an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire), on March 30, 2022, by The Princess Royal at Windsor Castle.

The prestigious award is the third-highest honor one can receive from the UK Royal Family and is typically awarded only after the recommendation has been confirmed by first the UK Prime Minister and finally Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II herself. It is given to those who are making a positive impact in their line of work.

Alison first rose to fame in 1982 as one half of Mute Records’ electronic duo Yazoo (aka Yaz) and has since enjoyed an incredible solo career, selling millions of albums and singles worldwide.

The honor comes just days after the 40th anniversary of the release of Moyet’s debut single with Yazoo, ‘Only You’, which reached number two on the Official UK Singles Chart.
