The estate of Montserratian musician and first superstar of Soca music, Alphonsus Cassell also known as Arrow, has revealed a brand-new compilation album entitled Hot Hot Hot: The Very Best of Arrow on July 1 via BMG.

The album bears its title from Arrow's hit song ‘Hot Hot Hot’, the infectious Soca anthem that would go on to be the defining song of the 1986 world cup in Mexico.

With ‘Hot Hot Hot’ set to turn 40 years old on July 19, the song proves it’s still as relevant as ever with a recent TikTok-era remix securing a synch placement in an Easy Jet & Doritos ad campaign. A synch spot that adds to a long line of placements, covers, and remixes over the song's tenure.

Didier Dehauteur, BMG, VP Marketing, Catalogue Recordings, UK, said: “‘Hot Hot Hot’ is an undeniable cultural phenomenon, celebrated globally it is one of the most synched songs of today. What Bob Marley is to Jamaica, Arrow is to Montserrat. This track single-handedly brought Soca rhythm to the mainstream and BMG is immensely proud to maintain the importance of this cultural inheritance and looks forward to furthering our collaboration with Arrow’s estate to expand the reach and relevance of his amazing repertoire”

In promotion of the album’s release and with appropriate timing considering the current weather, Sawandi Cassell, son of the late Arrow, took to BBC Radio 4’s flagship morning show Today, which has around 7 million listeners, to discuss his father’s genre-defining hit in ‘Hot Hot Hot’.

Commenting on the origins of the legendary song, Cassel said: “The way the song came about, my dad was performing in the Netherlands, in a small club. He asked the crowd “How are you feeling?” and someone screamed out Hot! Hot! Hot! this stuck in his head and the rest is history as they say”.

The interview can be listened to in full here (skip to 1:44:22).
