Ronan Keating tells One Direction to reunite soon to avoid 'bitterness'

Ronan Keating has warned One Direction that things could turn sour between them if their break is a long one.

The group recently embarked on a hiatus to recharge their batteries after five years of hectic schedules.

They are expected to reform next year, but Boyzone man Keating told Digital Spy that things could go wrong between the four members if the break is a prolonged one.

He said: "If they genuinely have had enough and want to go solo, I say go solo and live the dream.

"They're all great lads and superstars in their own right, so they should go off and have careers.

"But if they are genuinely taking a break, then don't let it be a long one. Get back sooner, because someone else will come along and replace them - or bitterness will start to fester between them.

"What I say is, don't leave the break long. Go have some fun and come back quickly and be the great band that they are.

"Or let the world know if it's a break-up, and go and have great solo careers. But don't be in this limbo land, because there's danger in that."

Keating meanwhile will release his latest solo album 'Time of My Life' on February 12.
