Pop superstar Britney Spears took to social networking site Twitter in the early hours of this morning to ask her fans what happened to the snake she performed with years ago.

Back in 2001, she used a huge albino reptile during her rendition of 'I'm A Slave 4 U' at the MTV VMAs, which took place at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City, and posted a message to Twitter questioning the snake's whereabouts:

"Sometimes I wonder what this snake is up to these days... Anybody know where it's at? haha."

Several hours later, Spears returned to the site with an update and was excited to reveal information about 'Banana': "Snake update: I've heard she's alive and well, and that her name is Banana! This makes me smile :)"

Last week, she shared a joke with the Mars rover about how the red planet was looking since she shot her video for 'Oops!... I Did It Again' on its surface.
