Simon Cowell has joked he may have to "ban" the word "amazing" on The X Factor USA as Britney Spears likes using it too much.

Pop sensation Spears is serving as a judge and mentor on the second season of the popular TV talent show alongside Cowell, Demi Lovato and L.A. Reid.

Spears - who is in charge of the Teens group of contestants - has  grown accustomed to using a certain set of adjectives to describe performances on the show, and Simon has joked about her favoured use of vocabulary.

He told Access Hollywood: "We might have to ban that word. We might have to ban 'amazing!'"

Spears took to her Twitter page earlier this week to gush about the high standard of talent on the singing show.

She wrote: "So impressed by the contestants this week. Especially my teens :) Stars are really starting to shine... bring on nxt week! (sic)."
