Larry Rudolph says Britney Spears took control in making her own image edgier

Britney Spears' manager, Larry Rudolph, has explained that her style and sound evolution from the 'bubblegum pop' princess to sex siren was entirely her decision.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about her impressive transition from teenage sweetheart to 'Womanizer' vixen, Rudolph (pictured left with Spears) confessed that she was very headstrong to work with and wanted to grow up in the spotlight in her own terms:

"First it was …Baby One More Time, then the Oops! … I Did It Again album, all super bubblegum pop records."

"Third album, she wanted to make edgier music. She sought out Pharrell. She’s the one who insisted ‘Slave 4 U’ be the first single and she was right. She was the one who sat down with Francis Lawrence and came up with the video concept."

He added that she wasn't told what to do and masterminded her career's progression on her own: “It was not some record-company executive and a manger sitting in a room plotting this out."
