Bruno Mars tells himself "don't be a slut" to stay focused

Now that Bruno Mars has achieved international success with his incredible career as a musician and songwriter, he reveals it's easy to be persuaded to try his hand at related projects, but tells himself "don't be a slut" to stay focused.

Speaking to Billboard.com, the 'Grenade' superstar explained that the temptation to launch a clothing line and to branch out will always be there, but he wants to be solely about the music:

"'OK. Now I'm here, what's next? A clothing line?' That's not what I'm trying to do. It's like, 'Don't be a slut. Remember your dream. Do your music and keep it special.'"

He also referred to his brush with the law back in February when he was charged with cocaine possession and explained that he doesn't like how it detracts from his reputation as a singer-songwriter and producer:

"It's something that I wish would go away. It's a cloud that constantly follows me no matter how many achievements. I'd like to move on. To show that I'm here for my music. Not to be in a tabloid."

Mars also added that he's been "fantasizing about doing a side project", but one in which he wouldn't be the centre of attention: "I'd love to be the drummer in a band that I'm producing, and sit back there and have someone else sing".
