Bruno Mars heads for No.1 with 'Unorthodox Jukebox'

Today's midweek chart update (December 12) has put singer-songwriter Bruno Mars in the No.1 position ahead of the confirmed places on Sunday.

Mars has shot straight in at No.1 with his new album 'Unorthodox Jukebox' and the Official Charts Company has confirmed that he is outselling his closest competitor, which is Michael Bublé at No.2 with his 'Christmas' record, by an impressive 22,000 copies.

Elsewhere, Emeli Sandé's debut, 'Our Version Of Events', has climbed 4 to No.3, Green Day secured a new entry at No.14 with 'Tre', and Kylie Minogue's 'The Abbey Road Sessions' has risen to 25.

Speaking about his new record, Mars explained that it's structured around his changing moods and approach to working in the studio:

"One day I feel like this, another day I feel like that. I think the most important ingredient is for me to have fun going into the studio and by me being unorthodox — that's what my music sounds like."
