The mother of popstar Bruno Mars has been hospitalized following a serious heart attack.

Bernadette Hernandez, 55, was rushed to hospital last night from her home in Honolulu, Hawaii and remains in critical condition.

Family friend Anita Sojot told Star magazine: “Bernadette is in hospital and the grandkids are all here, I’m looking after them.

“The family is on it’s way here right now and we are going to discuss what to do next.”

Mars’ closeness with his mother is no secret as his song ‘I Love You Mom’, recorded at age four, makes clear.  Mars also has his mother’s name tattooed on his shoulder.

Hernandez is also the mother of 5 other children and is often named by Mars as the source of his musical talent.
