Calvin Harris named 'Most Successful Songwriter of 2012'

'Bounce' star Calvin Harris has been crowned the best songwriter of last year in the UK singles chart by Music Week magazine in a new poll.

The Scottish DJ and producer wrote songs such as Cheryl Cole's 'Call My Name' and Rihanna's 'We Found Love', which catapulted him to the No.1 position on the list of 2012's Top 10. He was also 2011's top choice and a representative for Music Week explained there was a "sizeable gap" between his success and the person at No.2.

Sia Furler (pictured below), the writer behind Rihanna's 'Diamonds' and singer of David Guetta's melodic 'Titanium', was named the runner up, and 'We Are Young' hitmakers fun. came in third place.

Swedish team Carl Falk and Rami Yacoub, the masterminds behind some of One Direction and Nicki Minaj's hit singles, are at 4, and British rock band Coldplay rounded off the Top 5.

Head of business analysis at Music Week, Paul Williams, admitted that songwriters from all over the world have enjoyed incredible success in the past 12 months throughout the UK: "The mix of so many different nationalities in the top 10 further shows how geographically diverse hit writing has become, with a number one song able to emerge now from virtually anywhere."
