Celine Dion's husband has passed away at the age of 73.

Rene Angelil, who was also the singer's former manager, died at home in Las Vegas after a battle with cancer.

Dion married the man in 1994 and they have three children together.

The singer recently took a break from music to care for Angelil.

In March, Dion confirmed that she would be resuming her Las Vegas residency after taking time out.

She has cancelled dates in the city scheduled for January 16 and 17.

The star told USA Today last year that she was preparing for her husband's death.

She said: "When it hits me, it's going to hit me.

"But my biggest job is to tell my husband, we're fine. I'll take care of our kids. You'll watch us from another spot."

Angelil was approached by Dion's parents to manage her when she was aged 12.

He stepped down as her manager in 2014.
