Chance the Rapper confirms $2.2m funding for Chicago public schools

Chance the Rapper has shown support for the Chicago education system recently.

The 'Coloring Book' artist said: “Our kids should not be held hostage because of political positions.”

Chance also gave an update about his fundraising efforts at a press conference yesterday (March 31) and revealed that his initiative has now brought about a total of $2.2m (£1.75m) for Chicago’s public schools.

The Chicago Bulls basketball team said they were excited to support the rapper's initiative by donating $1 million to help, whilst donations were also made from Kanye West, Justin Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun and comedian, Hannibal Buress.

During yesterday's conference Chance announced that he will be setting up an arts and literature fund and give $10,000 to 12 different schools in need for their art programs.
