"Sickened" Charlotte Church speaks about phone hacking settlement

Charlotte Church has spoken of her disgust at the phone hacking case the singer was subject of.

Church and her family have agreed a settlement package of £600,000 from News Group Newspapers, who oversaw the running of the News of the World.

The BBC reports that Church's phone was hacked from the age of 16 and that a number of subsequent newspaper articles about her are said to have been the result of voicemail hacking.

Speaking outside the Royal Courts of Justice in London, Church said in a statement:

"I brought this legal claim with my parents, as many others have done, because we wanted to find out the truth about what this newspaper group had done in the pursuit of stories about our family. What I have discovered as the litigation has gone on has sickened and disgusted me. Nothing was deemed off limits by those who pursued me and my family, just to make money for a multinational news corporation."
