Crazy Stupid Love secures Cheryl a place in Official Chart history books

Cheryl Cole earns her fourth solo Official Singles Chart No.1 with 'Crazy Stupid Love', the lead single from the singer’s upcoming fourth studio album 'Only Human'. The single has a combined chart sales figure of over 118,000.

While Crazy Stupid Love marks newly-wed Cheryl’s ninth No.1 in total (including four chart toppers with Girls Aloud and her appearance on the 2010 charity cover of R.E.M.’s 'Everybody Hurts' for Helping Haiti), the track is the singer’s fourth solo No.1 placing her alongside Geri Halliwell and Rita Ora as only the third British female in history to claim the feat.

Cole previously topped the chart with 'Fight For This Love' (2009), 'Promise This' (2010) and 'Call My Name' (2012).

An ecstatic Cole tells OfficialCharts.com,"It feels great to be back but even more special to have achieved my fourth Number 1.  So exciting!"

“It is apt that, just a few weeks before Cheryl returns to The X Factor competition, she is again demonstrating what a winner she is” adds Official Chart Company Chief Executive, Martin Talbot.

Crazy Stupid Love, which topples Rixton’s 'Me And My Broken Heart' (No.8 today) from the Official Chart summit after just one week, also claims rapper Tinie Tempah his fifth appearance on a No.1, notching up a combined chart sales figure of 118,000 this week, with audio streams contributing just over 3%.

Canadian newcomers Magic! are at No.2 today with their reggae-infused debut Rude.  The track made its Official Singles Chart debut at No.76 three weeks ago based on streams alone, before climbing to No.50 last week. Rude has also had a worldwide chart impact, entering the Top 10 in the group’s native Canada as well as, Australia, Denmark, New Zealand, Sweden and USA, where it currently tops the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Climbing one place to No.3 today is former X Factor contestant Ella Henderson’s 'Ghost', which spends its seventh week in the Top 5. George Ezra’s 'Budapest' is also up one place to No.4, while Ariana Grande’s 'Problem' FT Iggy Azalea slides three places to No.5.

With over 1.2 millions plays Ariana Grande’s 'Problem' FT Iggy Azalea is the most streamed track of the week. Four other tracks have also been streamed over a million times; Magic!’s 'Rude' (1.17m), George Ezra’s 'Budapest' (1.13m), Ed Sheeran’s 'Sing' (1.08m) and Ella Henderson’s 'Ghost' (1.06m).

In addition to Cheryl Cole’s Crazy Stupid Love FT Tinie Tempah (No.1) and Magic!’s Rude (No.2) there are six new entries in today’s Official Singles Chart Top 40.

Singer/songwriter Charli XCX’s 'Boom Clap', which features on the soundtrack to 'The Fault In Our Stars' is at No.6, while US house producer Marc Kinchen’s early '90s anthem 'Always' FT Alana (No.12) makes its Top 20 debut today thanks to a remix by Route 94.

British girlband Neon Jungle score their fourth Top 20 with 'Louder' (No.14), as X Ambassadors and Jamie N Commons’ 'Jungle' enters the chart at No/18.
