Cheryl enjoys the freedom of being unknown in other countries

Songstress and 'X Factor' judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has revealed that she loves being able to go to America and walk around unnoticed because her fame is often overwhelming.

Speaking to ES magazine recently, the beauty explained that it's important to still be able to experience freedom and it's part of the reason she hasn't pursued a career in the USA:

"I never had an American Dream ... I've had opportunities to sign a solo US deal that I didn't take ... I couldn't bear to think of being famous worldwide ... I like to go to places where I'm not known, where I can be free."

She went onto talk about returning to 'The X Factor' this year and admitted that music mogul Simon Cowell previously let her go from the programme because she was in a 'dark place':

"I was running away from so much stuff in my life in the UK, I took the job ... I was suffering from a lot of things - heartache, confusion - I was in a dark place. It was definitely handled the wrong way. I've made (Simon) fully aware of that."
