Cheryl thinks One Direction may have gone 'mad' without a break

Cheryl says she understands why One Direction are taking a break next year.

The boyband are set to take time off from March 2016 to pursue solo activities.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Cheryl said that she relates to the group needing a break.

The former Girls Aloud star reckons the quartet ran the risk of going "mad" if they didn't go on hiatus.

The Brit said: "They were young boys when we found them, they are young men now and need to find their own way. It’s crucial for them to do that now, or you can go mad.

“I completely understand, coming from a girl group. It was seven years before we took a break. We weren’t working as intensely or as hard as 1D but it is essential for your sanity.

“People think ‘don’t moan, you’re travelling the world’ but the truth is you are looking out from a hotel balcony to an arena backstage."
