National treasure Cheryl Cole has been revealed as one of the most searched for names on Yahoo! in 2011. 

The well-known search engine has unveiled its list of the Top 10 Searches of the Year and the 'Promise This' singer came in fifth and, rather surprisingly, was the only star of music to have featured in the countdown. 

Yahoo! credits her online popularity with her brief involvement in X Factor USA and her 2011 BRIT Awards appearance, for which she wore a stunning black backless gown with a daring split running up to the top of her thigh. 

The only other music related term to have been included in the Top 10 was The X Factor, which came in just behind Cole at No.7 after a particularly scandalous season. Yahoo! explained that Frankie Cocozza contributed to its high ranking as did the ongoing voting fix claims.
