Chris Brown "detaches" himself from social media sites

Chris Brown has "detached" himself from social media after being criticised for his handling of an alleged studio scuffle with Frank Ocean.

The R&B superstar posted a cryptic image on Instagram earlier this week, following his supposed "brawl" with Ocean on Sunday night.

Brown shared an image of Jesus being crucified on the picture site, with the accompanying caption: "Painting the way I feel today. Focus on what matters! (sic)"

Now the international superstar has switched his account from public to private, shutting out two million loyal followers in the process.

After thanking his fans for their support, Brown concluded: "Social media takes away the essence of why we are even special or icons. So with that, I'm detaching myself from that world."

No charges have yet been filed following the alleged fight between the two stars and no arrests were made, but Ocean "is desirous of prosecution in this incident," said Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore.

The singer took to Twitter after the incident writing: "got jumped by chris and a couple guys. lol. i only wish everest was there. cut my finger now I can't play w two hands at the grammys (sic)."
