Coldplay frontman Chris Martin will act as an adviser on this year's series of The Voice USA.

The singer will give advice to wannabe singers as they prepare for the battle rounds section of the TV talent show.

NBC said: "Martin advised each of the Battles: Round Two performers on vocal techniques, stage presence and the importance of tailoring songs to fit their persona and strengths.

"These artists will continue to try and earn the support of their respective coaches, who will be forced to decide who will move on to the Playoff Rounds. Each coach will have the opportunity to strategically steal one more artist in this round."

Martin will appear on shows aired on March 31, April 1 and April 7.

The live shows will then air from April 21 as coaches Shakira, Usher, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton aim to reign supreme.
