Coldplay top US albums chart

Coldplay's new record has shot straight to the top of the US albums chart.

The British band's 'Ghost Stories' sold 383,000 copies in a week to become the fastest selling album of the year so far in the country.

That means that the group's last four albums have all topped the Billboard chart.

Billboard added that 64% of the sales in the US came from digital downloads.

'Ghost Stories' also topped the albums chart in Coldplay's native UK upon release.

Mainman Chris Martin meanwhile recently opened up on the public's perception of his band and their apparent lack of trendiness, saying:

"We have never been the coolest thing or the most fashionable thing. Well, maybe for a period. It just feels like we're able to keep rolling and no-one really notices."
