Coldplay pay tribute to Hurricane Harvey victims with new song "Houston"

Only days after being forced to cancel their Houston gig due to Hurrican Harvey, Coldplay decided to pay homage to their Texas fans on Monday night (August 28) with a new song during a concert in Miami.

Frontman Chris Martin told the concert-goers at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium:

"We all grew up loving country music, and of course that's kind of what we think of when we go to Texas. So if you'll bear with us, this is a new song and we'll never play this again."

He went on to explain that the song was named "Houston" and the lyrics pray for Texans to make it through the rain so that the band can return to see them again soon. The lyrics included:

"I'm dreamin' of when I get back to Houston/ I'm dreamin' of that fair and special place/ I'm dreamin' of when Houston has no problems/ In that city where they send you into space/ I'm dreamin' of when I get back to Texas/ Corpus Christie, Harris County, Galveston / There's a harmony that hums down there in Houston / Oh, Houston, you've got to keep on keepin' on."

Other artists, including Beyoncé, Lady Antebellum and Drake have all pledged to help the victims affected by Hurricane Harvey, which has seen over 40 inches of rain occur in parts of Texas.
