Coldplay to receive Best British Act Silver Clef award

Coldplay will receive a special prize at this year's Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards.

This year's ceremony is due to take place in London on June 26 and the 'Paradise' group will be honoured.

They will pick up the Royal Albert Hall Best British Act gong at the event - something which Chris Martin said the band will take great pride in. He said in a statement:

"It means a huge amount to us to be named 'Best British Act' by Nordoff Robbins at the 2013 O2 Silver Clef Awards. Nordoff Robbins is an organisation that lies very close to our hearts. They provide life-changing music therapy for thousands of people each year and we're humbled to collect this award in their honour."

Ten awards will be given out on the night, including one to Labrinth entitled the American Express Innovation Award.
