Coldplay to receive award for 'Hunger Games' soundtrack offering

British rock band Coldplay are set to receive a coveted Hollywood honour for their song 'Atlas', which features on the new 'Hunger Games' movie soundtrack. 

The group wrote 'Atlas' especially for the 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' feature film and it will be recognised at the 17th annual Hollywood Film Awards, where Coldplay with the 'Hollywood Song Award' prize. 

The ceremony is set to take place on October 21 at the Beverly Hilton in California and frontman Chris Martin will be in attendance to receive the trophy and to perform the song live. 

'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' will be released in theatres across the USA on November 22 and it will get a UK release one day before on November 21. 

Coldplay tweeted about the exciting news earlier this evening and confirmed that Martin will treat ceremony attendees to a live rendition of the song: "Good evening. We're pleased to report that Atlas (from the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) will receive this year's Hollywood Song Award at the 17th annual Hollywood Film Awards. Chris will attend the ceremony on 21 October at the Beverly Hilton to collect the award, and to perform the song."
