Jonathan Cheban left CBB as Bowie situation was horrifying

Former Celebrity Big Brother contestant, Jonathan Cheban, best friend of Kim Kardashian, has hit out at the organisers for treating David Bowie's death as a joke.

In one of his first interviews since leaving the Channel 5 reality show, the Bowie fan admitted that Tuesday night's drama surrounding Bowie's passing played a major role in why he walked out of the house, he told ITV's 'Lorraine':

"It affected me mentally.

"The house turned from being very fun to having a very negative energy. And I just didn't want to be in there anymore. The whole David Bowie thing was way too intense for me. His death was turned into a joke.

I have a life outside Celebrity Big Brother and I did not want to be part of a joke made out of a legend like David Bowie. At that point, I knew that it was right for me to disappear.

"My reaction, as a fan of David Bowie, is more important than Angie's. She has nothing to do with him any more. The world has been affected by this news and so have I. But Angie has nothing to do with him. She hasn't spoken to him in... I don't even know how long.

I know they had a child together, but she doesn't speak to that child. She told us that a thousand times.

"Obviously the David Bowie situation was horrifying ... Tiffany doesn't even know who David Bowie is."

The Channel has been criticised publicly for the broadcasting the moment the news of David Bowie's death was broken to his former wife, Angie Bowie on Monday (January 11).
