David Bowie tribute concert to be held in London on his birthday

A concert held in tribute to David Bowie will take place in London in January, with a host of former collaborators set to feature.

The event will take place at the city's Brixton Academy on 8 January, which would have been the late star's 70th birthday.

The show will be the first in a series which will be held around the globe in honour of Bowie, who died earlier this year from cancer.

The London gig will be organised by actor and close friend Gary Oldman, with each show in the series set to feature around 30 core musicians alongside a number of local acts.

The January show will star a number of Bowie band members including Mike Garson, Earl Slick, Adrian Belew, Mark Plati, Gerry Leonard, Gail Ann Dorsey, Sterling Campbell, Zachary Alford, Holly Palmer and Catherine Russell Read.

Tickets for the London gig will go on sale from Friday (November 18), although O2 Priority members can snap them up two days earlier.
