David Bowie 70th birthday concert to be held in London next month

There will be a series of concerts taking place around David Bowie's birthday to celebrate the late music icon

So far, events in London, New York, Los Angeles, Sydney and Tokyo have been confirmed to honour David Bowie and the London gig will be held at the O2 Brixton Academy on January 8. Proceeds from the shows, which can be seen below, will benefit Children & the Arts.

The venue's website explains that this one-off event is "part of a worldwide series of concerts, this one-time only event will honour the iconic artist on what would have been his 70th birthday".

It continues: "Bowie’s close friend Gary Oldman, who delivered an emotional speech about David at the BRIT Awards, will be joined in London by former Bowie band members Mike Garson, Earl Slick, Adrian Belew, Mark Plati, Gerry Leonard, Gail Ann Dorsey, Sterling Campbell, Zachary Alford, Holly Palmer and Catherine Russell, along with many other special guests to be announced."
