David Bowie "won't tour"

Legendary singer David Bowie has insisted he won't be touring with his new material.

The 66-year-old star announced on Tuesday (January 8) that he is releasing his first album in ten years - 'The Next Day' - as well as a new single, 'Where Are We Now?'.

Speaking to NME, producer Tony Visconti says Bowie doesn't want to perform his new music live: "He's fairly adamant he's never gonna perform live again. One of the guys would say, 'Boy, how are we gonna do all this live?' and David said, 'We're not'. He made a point of saying that all the time."

News of Bowie's long-awaited comeback delighted fans and earlier this week in an official statement on his website, Bowie's team wrote: "The response to the news we exclusively revealed in the small hours has been incredible and what nicer way to wish David Bowie a Happy Birthday than with all the positive responses on TV, radio, newspaper and social media sites."

It continues: "The reaction from iTunes users has also been remarkable with both the album, 'The Next Day', and the single, 'Where Are We Now?', currently at #1 on the UK iTunes site."
