David Guetta celebrates fifth UK No.1 single

David Guetta will no doubt be celebrating this evening after claiming his fifth Number 1 here in the UK.

The French DJ and producer’s latest track, 'Lovers On The Sun', featuring US singer-songwriter Sam Martin, has gone straight in at No.1 on the Official Singles Chart.

Guetta said: “Wow, this is amazing! The UK has shown me so much love and support over the years, since I was an unknown DJ there. To be Number 1 with the first song off my next album is taking a little bit of the pressure off finishing it, which is what I’m doing now."

The star scored his first Number 1 as a lead artist back in 2008 with When Love Takes Over and has since topped the charts with 'Sexy Bitch' (2009), 'Gettin’ Over You' (2010) and 'Titanium' (2012).

He also helped create to further chart-toppers as a guest feature on Flo Rida’s 'Club Can’t Handle Me' (2010) and as a producer on the Black Eyed Peas hit 'I Gotta Feeling' (2009). To date, Guetta has sold 9 million singles in the UK.

Meanwhile, US singer-songwriter Taylor Swift debuts at No.4 with Shake It Off today following its surprise release on Monday (August 18), and after its full release this week, German house DJ Wankelmut and Emma Louise climb a massive 185 places to No.5 with 'My Head Is A Jungle'.

Union J enter at No.9 with 'Tonight (We Live Forever)', Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora’s 'Black Widow' shifts from No.32 to No.15, and Sam Smith’s 'I’m Not The Only One' moves from No.40 to No.17. This week’s final new entry in the Top 40 comes from Saint Motel, who debut at No.34 with 'My Type'.

Finally, Cliff Richard’s 'I Still Believe In You' re-enters at No.57 this week after fans backed a social media campaign in support of the star following a sex abuse claim.
