Noise Inc. develops The BRIT Awards 2012 iPhone App

BRIT Awards fans to vote with app for the first time

Today, digital development company Noise Inc. announces that it has been selected by the prestigious BRIT Awards 2012 with MasterCard to build the organisation’s first ever iPhone app, that will allow fans to vote directly for the public voted-for categories through their phones

The BRIT Awards 2012 with MasterCard iPhone app by Noise Inc. will go live on January 12th as a free download from Apple’s App Store, in time for public voting to begin as soon as the nominations are announced.

It will feature news and competition elements, including allowing voting for nominees in the three award categories of:

10 nominees for British Single (voted for by listeners of Capital FM and users of iTunes); - 5 nominees for British Group (supported by BBC Radio 2); and - 5 nominees for British Breakthrough (supported by BBC Radio 1).

The BRIT Awards App will also offer chances to win tickets, and provide fans with news updates directly from the Awards and the ability to purchase performance audio from the night of the Awards.

Noise Inc. fast tracked the development of The BRIT Award app, meeting a one month deadline to meet the go live date in conjunction with the Award Nominations announcement at The Savoy Hotel. The project, headed by Noise Inc.’s veteran BRIT School alumni James Coughlan, demonstrates the multi-layered possibility for a major brand to reach its audience through a digital channel. The company worked closely with the BPI, MasterCard and The BRIT Awards to develop the iPhone app.

James Coughlan, Partner with Noise Inc., said: “This marks a first for a major music industry Awards programme to embrace the new technology of apps in its voting system, and Noise Inc. is thrilled to be the partner who could make it possible.”

Maggie Crowe, BRITs Event Director said: “The BRIT Awards with MasterCard is delighted to be able to launch its first ever App.  We want to keep in touch with our fans through their iPhones, with apps, and Noise Inc. has helped us make it possible for them to connect directly with The BRITs to vote and keep up to date with all our latest news.”

MasterCard will also shortly be announcing how consumers can use the app to participate in an exciting new competition, an extension of its highly successful 'Something for the Fans' campaign for The BRITs in 2011.

Shaun Springer, Head of Brand and Sponsorship at MasterCard UK & Ireland, said, “At MasterCard, we're always looking for innovative new ways to enable Priceless experiences for fans. This is a great opportunity for us to work with our long-standing partners at The BRITs to drive MasterCard’s social media platform and deepen our engagement with music. “We're excited to be involved in this ‘first’ for The BRITs in 2012 and looking forward to unveiling a new competition to capture the imagination of the nation, which will be available through the new app.”
