Electropop duo Moodbay have released the lead track 'My Thing' today, taken from their upcoming EP 'Somewhere Under The Moon'. This new release marks a new chapter for Moodbay as they take creative control over their identity.

Moodbay write and produce all music from their garage studio in the North-East, UK.

My Thing has a simple message about being your authentic self, without caring what others think. Dance and move in your own weird fantastic way and let the music take your body where it needs to go. The soulful and nostalgic groove is influenced by tracks like 'I Feel It Coming' by The Weeknd and 'Instant Crush' - both being Daft Punk productions.

Video: There is an accompanying video shot by Declan Creffield coming out the week after release.

About

An electro-pop duo that likes to explore various sonic landscapes from vintage disco grooves, lo-fi hip-hop textures to moody layers of analogue synth. Moodbay are vocalist-songwriter Anna Stephens and producer-songwriter Alfie Cattell. Both are pianists who bonded over Erik Satie's Gymnopédies during their time at music school. Though they enjoy writing catchy melodies, they both endeavour to capture unique vibes in their music.

Before Manchester, Anna moved from her home in Darlington to Paris, where she worked at a magazine house. She spent most of her time scribbling down poetry at her office desk and staying out late. While completing her French studies in Oxford, she started to put her words to piano. Alfie also started out on piano, and it remains his favourite instrument. He is a self-taught musician, who grew up in North Wales, recreating Zelda tunes on a dusty Yamaha keyboard, in between blue WKD’s and listening to Radiohead. He has honed his studio skills in Moodbay and now produces the edgy sounds that drive Anna’s vocals along.

Sounds like: Chvrches, Purity Ring, The Weeknd

Influences: Radiohead, Gorillaz, David Bowie, Little Dragon, Portishead, Massive Attack, Christine and the Queens, Lorde, James Blake
