Known for her soulful blend of genres and messages of self-love and shared understanding, Kendra’s new release marks yet another milestone in her remarkable career. “Manic Pixie Nightmare” confronts the stereotypical trope of the “manic pixie dream girl” (MPDG), often portrayed in the film as a quirky, free-spirited muse for a male protagonist. In this track, Kendra flips the narrative, encouraging listeners to appreciate who we are authentically, living authentically, being yourself, being you, and define their own existence beyond relationships and societal norms. As Kendra explains: “As a 'Manic Pixie Nightmare' myself, I wanted to use this song to inspire others to embrace who they truly are. Chasing love can lead to heartbreak, but finding yourself? That’s where the magic happens.” The accompanying music video was shot on the Los Angeles subway between North Hollywood and Hollywood Blvd, tying the song’s journey of self-discovery to the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame. “It’s about finding yourself, with a little help from friends, and getting lost along the way. It’s all about living for the plot!” says Kendra. Kendra Muecke’s impressive résumé speaks for itself. As a member of the Recording Academy, she serves as a Grammy Voting Member, GRAMMY U Mentor, and GrammyNEXT participant (2022).
