French-British composer Jean-Loup Pinson, based in London, returns with an innovative new EP titled, A Moment of Deathlessness, a project that brings together poetry, music, and contemporary urban voices in a distinctive fusion of styles. This latest work explores themes central to the poetry of the iconic American poet Emily Dickinson, set to original compositions by Pinson.

Jean-Loup Pinson’s new EP masterfully blends choral music, rap/spoken word, and electronic beats, creating a soundscape that pushes the boundaries of genre. With The Carice Singers, one of the UK's most acclaimed chamber choirs, Pinson captures the timeless elegance of Dickinson’s words. Complementing these performances, London-based hip-hop artists/poets Armanious and Tanaka Fuego contribute original texts, bringing a fresh, modern-day perspective to themes like truth, desire, and mortality. This dynamic interplay between traditional and contemporary voices bridges two centuries of artistic expression, both sonically and lyrically.

“Emily Dickinson’s poetry speaks to universal themes of existence, and I wanted to explore those ideas from contrasting angles,” says Pinson. “The collaboration between a classical choir and contemporary hip-hop artists seemed like a compelling way to examine the enduring relevance of her work.”

A Moment of Deathlessness, stands out as a significant release in Pinson’s already impressive career. He has worked across a wide range of media, including film, television, theatre, and video games. His most recent credits include the Ophir-nominated feature film “The Art of Waiting”, the Berlinale-selected documentary “Speer Goes to Hollywood”, and the critically acclaimed contemporary dance show “Comrades in the Dark”. Additionally, Jean-Loup has collaborated with award-winning composer Frank Ilfman, contributing to the scores of major studio films like “Gunpowder Milkshake” and “Ghost Stories”.

Pinson’s deep understanding of composition is backed by a Bachelor of Music with first-class honours from the London College of Contemporary Music. Since 2022, he has been a BAFTA Connect Member, an accolade that underscores his growing recognition in the industry.
