Rising singer-songwriter and actress Ren Martinez returns with her new single ‘The First & Last of the Perfect Parties’, a wistful, hook-laced indie rock gem that captures the chaotic joy and quiet heartbreak of one unforgettable night. The track is the latest glimpse into her highly anticipated debut album, Fingers Crossed, due out this fall.

Blending the bright, melodic storytelling of Fountains of Wayne with the diaristic intensity of Julien Baker and the heart-on-sleeve candour of Taylor Swift, the single feels like a time capsule cracked open with both love and grief.

“The first line of this song came from a drunk group text during early COVID,” Ren shares. “We were talking about the wildest college party we ever went to. I said, ‘I was 100% sober eating pizza on the lawn when the cops came.’ My friend said that sounded like a lyric. And I said, ‘I’ll try to write that song tomorrow cause I’m too drunk today.’ And I did.”

Produced by longtime friend and collaborator Brian Robert Jones, the track leans into power pop and emo-tinged indie rock, layering driving guitars with Ren’s signature vocal warmth. At its core, the song is a love letter to friendship, youth, and the things we only understand in hindsight.

Martinez, who grew up in a family of musicians and actors in Los Angeles, has already begun carving out her space in the entertainment world.
