Katie Dauson, the genre-defying artist known for her bold blend of rock, folk, country, and more, returns with her latest single “Rock Along With You,” a powerful new track pulled straight from a real-life experience and the heart of her acclaimed album Pure Katie.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind the song, Katie shares, “This song is based on a true story of a rock concert that I attended in Toronto.” That concert took place at the legendary Rivoli on November 1, 2024—an event that unfolded after a serendipitous meeting with the band’s lead singer at an ELO concert weeks earlier. “I was on my way to the washroom at the Scotiabank Arena when I heard someone behind me yell, ‘I’m a big fan of your music!’” Katie recalls. “He told me he was in a band, and I ended up checking them out later and attending their show. It turned into a really cool full-circle moment.”

The high-energy, guitar-driven track came to Katie in the early hours of the morning. “One morning, a couple of weeks later, the tune and the words for the chorus jumped into my head, and I rushed to write the song down. It had to be 6:30 am or earlier, but you never know when inspiration strikes.”

Recorded using her prized left-handed 1978 Gibson Les Paul Custom in Tobacco Burst, Katie’s performance on “Rock Along With You” captures the raw, vibrant pulse of rock and roll while staying true to her roots as a musical storyteller.
