Dr. Dre dominates Forbes hip-hop rich list

Dr. Dre has topped Forbes' hip-hop rich list by some margin.

The rap mogul is estimated to have earned $620m (£378m) over the last year, making him hip-hop's richest person.

This amount is largely due to Apple's purchase of his Beats headphones company.

At No.2 on the list is Jay Z, who is reported to have earned $60m ($36m) over the last twelve months, with Diddy tied in second place.

Drake is fourth with estimated earnings of $33m (£20.2m), whilst Macklemore & Ryan Lewis round off the top five with $32m (£19.5m).

Other notable names include Kanye West ($30m (£18.3m)), Birdman ($24m (£14.6m)) and Lil Wayne ($23m (£14m)).

However, Dr. Dre's earnings is more than the other 24 names in the list combined. His figures are the highest for any musician examined by Forbes for their yearly lists.
